Executive Summary
The Chicago Police Department (CPD) is the City of Chicago’s largest department, and a large percentage of the City’s overall budget goes to fund CPD.
The Corporate Fund is the source of most of the money appropriated to CPD. Since 2016, an average of 38.9% of the Corporate Fund has been directed to CPD each year. The average size of the Corporate Fund over this time was $3,892,256,833.33, and the average amount provided to CPD from the Corporate Fund over this time was $1,511,850,272.
