AIG Certification and Peer Review
OIG is accredited by the Association of Inspector Generals (AIG), a national organization that encourages professional development; standardizes practices, policies, and ethics; and establishes professional qualifications and certifications for Offices of Inspectors General.
As an AIG member, OIG participates in a rigorous peer review process to assess our compliance with professional standards. Every three years, OIG invites a team of reviewers from other oversight agencies across the country to examine our policies and practices, interview our staff, etc., and provide us with any recommendations to improve our operations. Members of our team also have served on peer review teams to support other organizations and to stay connected to best practices in government oversight.
By inviting peer review, OIG “walks the walk” on continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability – just as we ask of the government entities over which we exercise oversight.
