Samuel Chae

Associate General Counsel – Public Safety

Samuel Chae joined the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General in 2022 as assistant inspector general. He transitioned to his current role as associate general counsel for public safety in November 2023.

Chae has extensive experience in litigation through his previous work as an assistant state’s attorney at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. There he worked on a wide range of complex felony crimes cases in the Felony Trial Division of the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau. Chae also previously served as assistant general counsel for the Chicago Public Schools Board of Education.

Chae holds a BA in political science from Loyola University Chicago and a JD from DePaul University.
