Bryce Carlson
Bryce Carlson joined the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) in 2023 as an assistant inspector general. He transitioned to his current role as chief assistant inspector general – legal counsel in June 2025.
Carlson has extensive experience in trial work, case management, and investigations. Prior to OIG, he served as an assistant state’s attorney at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, working in the Felony Trial Division. Additionally, Carlson worked as an assistant inspector general with the Office of Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor and as a prosecuting attorney with the City of Chicago Department of Law.
Carlson earned a BA in journalism and political science from the University of Iowa and a JD from the University of Iowa College of Law. He is a licensed attorney by the Illinois State Bar and a Certified Inspector General Investigator by the Association of Inspectors General.
