Did you know that Forest Glen was the Community Area with the largest percent decrease in reported crimes from 2024 to 2025?

Forest Glen had 406 reported crimes in 2025, a 25.1% decrease from 542 reported crimes in 2024 and the largest percent decrease among all City of Chicago Community Areas.

In 2025, there was a total of 237,849 crimes reported for the City, down 8.7% from 260,381 crimes reported in 2024. Here is how to view that information using the OIG CPD Reported Crimes Dashboard.

1. Click the Click to show filters button

To begin, click the Click to show filters button as highlighted in the screenshot below.

2. Change Data Displayed option

Under the Data Displayed dropdown menu, select Percent Change.

3. Update Timeframes Compared

Under Timeframes Compared, select 2024 to 2025.

4. Update Geographic Category

Under Geographic Category, select Community Area.

5. Update Bar Chart Row Grouping

Under Bar Chart Row Grouping, select Geographic Areas.

With 542 cases reported as crimes in 2024, and 406 cases reported in 2025, Forest Glen had the largest decrease in reported crimes with 25.1%. Hover over Forest Glen to see details.

With 1,300 cases reported as crimes in 2024, and 1,398 cases reported in 2025, the East Side had the largest increase in reported crimes with 7.5%. Hover over East Side to see details.
