Did you know that between January 2022 and December 2024, over 80% of all Chicago Fire Department Emergency Service calls were for Emergency Medical Services events?

Out of the 1,048,103 calls for Chicago Fire Department (CFD) Emergency Service, the most common type of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) event was Difficulty Breathing and the most common type of Fire event was Automatic Alarm.

Here is how to retrieve these statistics on the CFD Emergency Events dashboard.

1. Setting an End Date

Enter December 31, 2024 as the End Date.

2. Reviewing Service Class and Type of Event

The default sort order for the data table is alphabetical by type. To sort the Total column by descending order, click on the sort icon next to the column header.

After sorting by Total column, Difficulty Breathing now shows as the most common type of event.

3. Selecting a Service Class

Click on Fire to highlight that specific Service Class.

4. Sorting Event Types

Click on the sort icon to display Event Type data in descending or ascending order. After sorting by the Fire column, Automatic Alarm is the most common type of Fire event.
