- In which police beat is this address located?
- Is this address located in a Chicago Historic District?
- In what zoning district is this address located?
Key Terminology (Expand/collapse each for details.)
Geographic Areas
- Ward: Chicago has 50 wards. Each ward is a political district and the voters in each ward are represented by an elected Alderperson. Ward boundaries change, through a process called redistricting, following the ten-year census so that wards represent an approximately equal number of people.
- Community Area: Chicago has 77 community areas. Community area boundaries do not change over time (as political boundaries do), so information about the City can be consistently collected and analyzed over long periods of time, despite redistricting.
Public Safety
- CPD Area: Chicago has five police Areas that aid the department in the allocation of resources and personnel across the City.
- Chicago Police Department (CPD) District: Chicago has 22 police districts, which are geographic subdivisions overseen by a Commander.
- CPD Beat: A beat is a smaller neighborhood area that a CPD member is assigned to patrol.
- Chicago Fire Department (CFD) District: Chicago has five CFD districts, which are geographic subdivisions overseen by a Commander.
- CFD Battalion: Chicago is divided into 24 battalions, which are smaller neighborhood areas served by a firehouse.

- Street Sweeping Ward/Section: Street sweeping for debris and litter is broken into maps and schedules by Ward.
General
- Voting Ward/Precinct: Voting wards and precincts are designated by residential address. Election ballots may be different by ward and/or precinct. The data is displayed as a combination of ward (first two characters) and precinct within that ward (last three characters).
