OIG Launches Updated Dashboard on Chicago Police Department Sworn Member Misconduct Investigations

The City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) announces the launch of an updated, user-friendly data dashboard on its information portal that allows users to search for and view the outcomes of disciplinary complaints and notifications against sworn Chicago Police Department (CPD) members. The updated dashboard allows access to data on disciplinary investigations initiated from February 11, 2019, through the present, with an easy link to historical information back to 2007.

“The goal of our information portal, in the service of our transparency mandate, is to make City data more available and accessible to the public. OIG first launched a sworn CPD member complaint dashboard in 2018, in what was at the time a pioneering police accountability effort. This update brings that work forward into the present, and we hope it will serve as a valuable resource for all involved in policing and public safety oversight in Chicago. Before launching the update publicly, we reviewed it with senior management at CPD and we very much appreciate their feedback,” said Deborah Witzburg, Inspector General for the City of Chicago.

Dashboards on OIG’s Information Portal (informationportal.igchicago.org) draw on existing, continuously refreshing data from across City departments, presented for public use with the benefit of OIG’s data cleaning and validation processes.

The newly updated dashboard can be found under Complaints/Notifications on the Public Safety Dashboards of the OIG Information Portal: https://informationportal.igchicago.org/dashboards/public-safety/complaints-notifications/.
