The Office of Inspector General (OIG) launched its national search for the next Deputy Inspector General for Public Safety on May 31, 2022; OIG received applications from 39 candidates in nine states, representing a wide variety of professional backgrounds.
“Tobara brings a passion for justice, deep experience with law enforcement and with community groups, and tremendous knowledge about the most pressing issues in policing and police accountability in Chicago,” said Witzburg. “OIG’s Public Safety section is doing important and impactful work, and I am so pleased that Tobara will join us to lead it.”
Pursuant to the Municipal Code of Chicago, Richardson’s nomination will go to the City Council for approval.
