CPD Arrests: Demographics
What will you find here?
Arrest records provide a critical first step in the identification of potential police biases or disparities. This dashboard allows users to filter arrest data by demographics of the arrestee and arresting officer to analyze interactions between police and the public.
Some questions that can be assessed by this data set are:
- How many times has a white officer arrested a Black person since 2020?
- What is the racial comparison for arrestees with multiple charges?
- How many female-identifying people were arrested to due mental health issues in the past year?
Data Sources
CPD databases and Chicago Integrated Personnel and Payroll System (CHIPPS). Records begin January 1, 2022, and the data is typically refreshed weekly on Sundays. Data represents the information that is in the CPD databases as of the date of last update (listed at the top of the dashboards). The information in these dashboards only includes data from completed and approved Arrest Reports.
