What will you find here? 

This dashboard displays information on closed misconduct complaints and notifications filed against Chicago Police Department (CPD) sworn members since January 1, 2000. The information in this dashboard includes complaints and notifications filed against members who are currently sworn, or previously sworn, but may not have been sworn at the time of the complaint.

Data points that are not included in this set are: 

  • Complaints and notifications filed against members who resigned and/or retired before 2000
  • Complaints and notifications considered to be ongoing or confidential  
  • Case information other than recommended findings and penalty decisions 

Users can read more details on a complaint or notification by clicking on the log number. 

Questions that can be answered by this dashboard include: 

  • What is the current rank of an active CPD member?
  • What actions were taken for a CPD member who received a complaint of improper search and seizure? 
  • What agency investigated each complaint? 

Data Sources 

All information presented in these dashboards is based on data stored in CPD databases and Chicago Integrated Personnel and Payroll Systems (CHIPPS), the City’s human resources information system. The data is typically refreshed weekly on Mondays. CST. Data is current through the date of the last update (listed in the top right corner of the dashboards).
