Hired Truck Affair

United States Attorney’s Office brought complaints against four former City officials accusing them of rigging city jobs and promotions: former Assistant to the Director of the City’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs (“IGA”) Robert Sorich, former Director of Staff Services in the City’s Department of Streets & Sanitation (“DSS”) Patrick Slattery, former IGA employee Timothy McCarthy, and former Managing Deputy Commissioner in the DSS John Sullivan.

A year later, a jury found Sorich and McCarthy guilty of two counts of mail fraud, Slattery guilty of one count of mail fraud, and Sullivan guilty of one count of lying to federal agents.
