Pursuant to its ordinance, OIG is required to file a Quarterly Report no later than the 15th of January, April, July, and October of each year. The law requires OIG to publish statistics on investigations opened, closed, and sustained during the quarter. However, in order to keep City government and residents better apprised of OIG activities, OIG also publishes its Quarterly Reports with narrative summaries of sustained OIG investigations, policy reviews and recommendations, audits, and hiring compliance reviews. This way, Chicago residents and officials can have a better measure of the role OIG performs in improving City government.
