Carla Kupe, Director, DEIC
Carla Kupe joined the Office of Inspector General in 2019 and currently serves as Director of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance. She has over ten years of experience as an attorney litigating civil rights claims, investigating Title IX complaints, and working toward greater diversity in law enforcement. Most recently, Kupe served as Associate General Counsel and Title IX Coordinator at Chicago State University. Prior to that, she worked for the City of Chicago Law Department for nine years in its Federal Civil Rights Litigation Division, representing the City and members of the Chicago Police Department (CPD), and in the Building and License Enforcement Division. She also served as the Director of Community Relations for the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), where she facilitated collaboration between the community and law enforcement and directed NOBLE’s diversity recruitment program for CPD’s entry exam. Kupe earned a BA in Political Science from Kalamazoo College and a JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
