Brian Dunn, General Counsel
Brian Dunn joined the Office of Inspector General in April 2015 as Deputy General Counsel before assuming the role of First Deputy and General Counsel later that year. Prior to joining OIG, Dunn held various legal positions with the State of Illinois. As an Associate General Counsel in the Office of the Governor from 2009 to 2011, he oversaw the legal operations of various state agencies in the regulatory, environmental, and health and human services fields. From 2011 to 2012, Dunn served as General Counsel for the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, before becoming General Counsel to the largest state agency, the Illinois Department of Human Services, from 2012 to 2015. Prior to his public service, Dunn was an Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice at Mayer Brown LLP and clerked for the Honorable James Moran in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Dunn earned a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Northwestern University School of Law.
