The 2023 Public Safety Section Draft Outlook on Police Oversight and Accountability is now posted for public comment. The projects in OIG’s draft are under consideration for 2023. They are listed in categories corresponding to the Public Safety section’s strategic priorities: (a) CPD operational competence; (b) discipline and accountability; and (c) constitutional policing.
The list of projects is intended to serve as a guiding document and is subject to change. The Public Safety section may initiate other projects over the course of the year and the section may not undertake each of the listed projects in 2023. Potential projects are developed from a variety of sources, including input from community members, CPD members, and OIG staff. A final plan, incorporating comments as appropriate, is then published on OIG’s website. OIG is soliciting comments from the public and will consider all comments in finalizing its Public Safety 2023 Outlook.
Thank you to everyone who responded with comments during the Public Comment period, from October 18 to December 2, and for sharing about which issues resonate with your community and which topics have yet to be identified. When finalized the 2023 Outlook on Police Oversight and Accountability will be published on our website. Please subscribe to receive updates and information on OIG reports, press releases, and news.
