On August 13, 2015, Alexander Igolnikov, owner of Seven Amigos Used Cars Inc., pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport, receive and possess a counterfeit security in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371, 2314, and 2315. United States v. Alexander Igolnikov -14-CR-484 (U.S.D.C. ND IL).
From 2007 through April 2010, Igolnikov knowingly obtained false and fraudulent paperwork to conceal the history of damaged cars in order to bypass City of Chicago laws that prohibit the use of salvaged and rebuilt vehicles as taxicabs. It’s the government’s position that Igolnikov caused approximately 180 impaired vehicles to be used as taxicabs on Chicago streets. The indictment and plea agreement are attached to this report.
Igolnikov’s sentencing is scheduled for November 19, 2015. Igolnikov faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, or twice the gross gain or gross loss from the offense.
